Who is responsible

Mohammad Aaquib Jawed makes Bedaari and runs this website, and is responsible for the personal data described here. Contact: support@bedaari.com, New Delhi, Delhi, India.

The app

The Bedaari app collects nothing and sends nothing. It makes no network connections of any kind: no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reports, no update checks. Your license key is checked on your own computer.

It keeps a few small files on your computer, which never leave it:

  • your settings (interval, run length, screen area, hot corner);
  • your license key, once you enter one. The key contains the email address you bought with and your computer code;
  • when your trial started, in the settings folder and in a hidden file in your home folder, so that the trial cannot simply be restarted.

To make your computer code, the app reads your computer's built-in identifier (on a Mac the hardware UUID, on Windows the machine GUID) and scrambles it with a one-way hash. Only that code is ever shown, and only if you choose to type it into our activation page. It cannot be turned back into the identifier.

While it is running, or while a hot corner is set, the app looks at where the pointer is a few times a second. It uses that only to notice you are moving the mouse yourself and to recognise the hot-corner gesture; positions are never stored or sent anywhere.

This website

  • When you buy: we keep your email address, the amount, the date, any coupon used and your license code, to deliver your license, send it again if you lose it, and help you if something goes wrong.
  • When you activate a computer: we keep the computer code you enter and the key issued for it, so the same computer can fetch its key again and we can apply the limit of 2 computers per license.
  • Payment: handled by Paddle, our reseller and the Merchant of Record. Paddle collects your payment details, billing country and tax information, issues your receipt, and its own privacy notice covers that. We receive your email address, the amount and a transaction reference; your card details never reach us.
  • Server logs: like every website, our server briefly records requests, including your IP address and browser type, to keep the site working and to stop abuse (for example, limiting repeated attempts on the activation page). License codes and email addresses are filtered out of these logs.
  • Cookies: only the technical session cookie this site needs to protect forms. No advertising or analytics cookies, and no tracking.
  • Fonts and scripts: everything the pages use, including the typefaces, is served from this site. The only exception is the payment page, which loads Paddle's payment form from Paddle's servers.

Why we use it

We use your data only to sell you a license and support it (to perform our contract with you), to keep records the law requires (tax and accounting), and to keep the site secure (our legitimate interest in preventing fraud and abuse). We never sell it, and we never use it for advertising.

Who else handles it

Only the services needed to run the business: Paddle (payments and tax), the company that hosts this website and its database, and the email service that delivers license emails. Some of them may process data outside your country; where the law requires it, they do so under appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

  • Orders, license codes and activations: for as long as your license is in use, and afterwards for as long as tax and accounting law requires us to keep sales records (up to 8 years).
  • Server logs: only as long as needed to keep the site running and secure, normally no more than 30 days.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of the data we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, and you can object to how we use it. Write to support@bedaari.com. We may need to keep sales records the law requires even after a deletion request. Deleting an order does not stop a license key you already have from working. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the data-protection authority in your country.

Children

Bedaari is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top.
